One year ago, I was closing out 8 years of work as a civil servant within the Federal Government.

Within the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy, I supported efforts to advance President Obama's science, technology, and innovation agenda. It was a wild and crazy time. Each day was long and each day was different.

My program priorities included:

The Precision Medicine Initiative: Bringing forth the next generation of medicine. Supported policy and strategy efforts regarding the creation and launch of the "All of Us" program at the National Institutes of Health. Liaised with healthcare providers, genetic sequencing labs, health tech startups, and others.

The Data-Driven Justice and Police Data Initiatives: Using data to modernize the criminal justice system. Worked directly with a coalition of police chiefs, mayors, country administrators, and other local leaders to implement data-driven approaches to local criminal justice and policing efforts.

Modernizing Government: Innovations in public service. Coordinated knowledge sharing and cross- government efforts on policies, programs, and other innovation activities. Contributed to, shaped, and edited cumulative Administration report summarizing innovation approaches for federal agencies.

Other major efforts and topics included: AI, Diversity and Inclusion, Implicit Bias, STEM Ed, Modernizing Government, and others.

I also was one of a four-member team that reviewed and cleared OSTP public facing materials and coordinated White House science and technology-related media activities.
